How to parse a URL
- Paste a URL, or try the example.
- Read the parts: scheme, host, port, path, query and fragment.
- Edit, add or remove parameters and copy the rebuilt URL.
Good to know
- The URL is read by your browser's own URL parser, the same rules browsers use to follow links.
- Repeated parameters (color=blue&color=red) are all listed.
- Encoded characters such as %20 and %C3%A9 are shown decoded.
- The fragment (after #) is never sent to the server; pages use it to scroll or keep state.
Frequently asked questions
What does "no scheme, https:// assumed" mean?
A URL needs a scheme such as https://. If you paste example.com/page, it is read as https://example.com/page.
Is the URL opened or checked online?
No. The URL is only read as text, in your browser; nothing is requested.
