How to make meta tags
- Enter the page title, description, address and share image.
- Check the previews and the length counters.
- Copy the tags into the <head> of your page.
Which tags
- Title, description and canonical link for search engines; robots when a page shouldn't be indexed.
- Open Graph (Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack) and Twitter card tags for share previews.
- Charset, viewport and an optional theme color for mobile browsers.
- Values are escaped, so quotes and & in your text can't break the HTML.
Tips
- Titles of about 50 to 60 characters and descriptions of about 120 to 155 characters usually show in full.
- Share images work best at 1200 × 630 pixels.
- The meta keywords tag is not included: search engines have ignored it for years.
Frequently asked questions
Does the preview load my image?
No. This page can't connect to other websites, so the preview only shows where the image goes.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The tags are written in your browser.
