Supported formats

|---|---|---|---|
| JPG / JPEG | Yes | Yes | No transparency: transparent areas get a background color |
| PNG | Yes | Yes | Lossless, keeps transparency |
| WebP | Yes | Yes* | Small files with transparency. *WebP output needs a browser that can create WebP (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) |

| BMP | Yes | Yes | Uncompressed, large files |
| ICO | Yes | Yes | Windows icons with the sizes you choose |
| TIFF | Yes | Yes | Saved uncompressed |

| HEIC / HEIF | Safari only | No | Most browsers can't decode HEIC, so it isn't supported for browser-only conversion there |
Is my image uploaded?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser on your own device. Your images are not uploaded, stored or sent to a server.
Good to know
- Converting re-encodes the image. For JPG, WebP and AVIF you choose the quality; PNG, BMP, TIFF and ICO are lossless.
- Converted files don't keep metadata such as GPS location or camera details.
- Animated GIF, WebP and PNG files are converted from their first frame.
- Photos are turned upright using their orientation information before converting.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert JPG to PNG?
Choose your JPG file, select PNG as the output format and press Convert. Then download the PNG. PNG is lossless, so the result looks the same as the JPG.
Can I convert PNG to WebP?
Yes. Select WebP as the output format. WebP keeps transparency and is usually much smaller than PNG. WebP output works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox; if your browser can't create WebP, the option is marked as not available.
Is image conversion done online or in my browser?
In your browser. The website delivers the converter, but the conversion itself runs on your device. No image is sent to a server.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Your images stay on your device. The page is blocked by its security policy from sending files anywhere.
Is the image converter free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of conversions.
Can I convert multiple images?
Yes. Add your images, convert them in one go, and download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file. No server-imposed limit on the number of files. Very large batches need more memory.
What image formats are supported?
You can convert from JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF and SVG, and to JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and TIFF. HEIC can be opened only in Safari.
