How to check a TOML file
- Paste your TOML, open a .toml file, or try the example.
- Choose what to do: check and tidy, TOML to JSON, or JSON to TOML.
- Copy or download the result. A mistake is shown with its line.
What tidying changes
- Spacing around "=" and in table headers, like [server].
- Indentation of items in arrays written over several lines.
- Trailing spaces and extra blank lines, with one blank line before each table.
- Comments and multi-line strings are kept exactly. The tidied file is checked against the original, so the data never changes.
What is checked
The whole file is read with a TOML 1.0 parser: repeated keys, tables defined twice, missing values, wrong dates and unclosed strings are all reported with their line.
Frequently asked questions
Why does JSON to TOML refuse null?
TOML has no null value. Remove the field, or give it a value such as an empty string.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and the page is blocked from uploading anything.
