How to compare JSON
- Paste the original JSON on the left and the changed JSON on the right, or open files.
- Choose whether the order of array items matters.
- Read the list of differences, then copy or download the report.
What counts as a difference
- A key that was added or removed.
- A value that changed, including a change of type, such as 3 becoming "3".
- Array items compared by position, or as a collection when you ignore their order.
- Not a difference: key order, spacing and numbers written differently (1.0 and 1).
Paths
Each difference shows where it is, like $.env.LOG_LEVEL or $.items[2].price. $ is the top of the document.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Text Compare?
Text Compare compares lines of text, so reordered keys or different spacing show up as changes. JSON Diff reads both documents first and compares the data.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and the page is blocked from uploading anything.
