How to open a DXF file
- Choose the .dxf file.
- Turn layers on or off under the drawing.
- Save the drawing as SVG to use it in a document or design tool.
Good to know
- Lines, polylines (with arcs), circles, arcs, ellipses, text, points and block inserts are drawn. Hatches, dimension styles, line types and 3D solids are not; splines are approximated.
- DWG drawings can't be drawn here (DWG is AutoCAD's closed format); their version is shown. Save them as DXF in AutoCAD.
- STEP and IGES models show their header details: author, units, software and the kinds of entities inside.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a DWG file?
Only its version is read. Export it as DXF from AutoCAD (or a free DWG converter) to see it here.
Is the drawing uploaded?
No. It is read in your browser and never sent anywhere.
