How to add a watermark to a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Type the watermark text and choose its size, color, opacity and angle, once in the center or repeated across the page.
  3. Choose all pages or some pages, then save and download.

Good to know

  • The watermark is placed upright and centered even on rotated pages.
  • Text in any language works, including Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and Cyrillic.
  • The page content is copied as it is; only the watermark is added.
  • For an image watermark on photos, use Add Watermark to Images.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF (you need the password).

Can the watermark be removed?

It is added as part of the page, which makes removal hard but not impossible with editing software. For real protection, also use Protect PDF.
