How to trim a video

  1. Choose your video.
  2. Play it and set the start and end, by typing the times or using the current position.
  3. Pick fast or exact cutting, press Trim and download the clip.

Fast or exact

  • Fast: the video is copied without re-encoding, so there is no quality loss and it takes seconds. The cut starts at the nearest key frame, which can be a little before your start time.
  • Exact: cuts at the precise time by re-encoding the video, which takes longer.

Good to know

  • Opens MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and MPEG-TS. The clip keeps the original format.
  • The new file doesn't keep the original's metadata, such as the recording location or the device name.
  • No server-imposed file size limits. The new file is made in your device's memory, so very long videos need a computer with enough free memory.

Your video stays on your device

The video is processed by your own browser and computer. It is never uploaded, so private and unreleased footage stays with you.

Can I cut out several parts, or keep several clips?

Yes, with the Video Cutter: mark as many parts as you like, then keep them joined, cut them out, or save each one. To cut a video into equal pieces, use Split Video.

Why does my clip start a bit early?

In fast mode, videos can only be cut at key frames without re-encoding. Choose exact mode to cut at the precise time.

Can I cut out a part in the middle?

This tool keeps one part (from start to end). To remove a middle section, trim the two halves separately.

Is my video uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere.
