How to scan a QR code

  1. Choose a picture or screenshot with a QR code, paste one with Ctrl+V, or start the camera.
  2. The code is read instantly.
  3. Copy the content or open the link.

What is shown

  • Links, with a reminder to check the address before opening it.
  • Wi-Fi codes: the network name, security and password.
  • Contacts (vCard and MeCard), phone numbers, email addresses, text messages and locations.
  • Where your browser has a built-in barcode reader (Chrome on Android, Mac and ChromeOS), product barcodes are read too.

Good to know

  • Small codes in large photos are found too; cropping close to the code helps with blurry pictures.
  • The camera picture is checked in your browser and never recorded or sent anywhere.

Is it safe to open QR links?

Look at the address first: QR codes on posters and parking meters are sometimes replaced with stickers that lead to fake sites.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere.
