How to add a header and footer

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Type text in any of the six places. Use {page}, {pages}, {date} and {file} for page numbers, the date and the file name.
  3. Press Add header and footer and download.

Options

  • Six places: left, center and right, at the top and the bottom.
  • Font (Helvetica, Times or Courier), size, color and the distance from the edge.
  • All pages, all except the first (cover page), or the pages you select.
  • Start numbering at any number, for example to continue a series.

Good to know

  • The text is real PDF text: sharp at any zoom and searchable.
  • It appears upright on rotated pages too.
  • The standard PDF fonts write Western European letters; other alphabets can't be used here.
  • For legal page stamps such as ABC000001, use Bates Numbering.

Your PDF stays on your device

Everything happens in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded, and this site's security policy blocks the page from sending files anywhere.

How do I write "Page 3 of 10"?

Type "Page {page} of {pages}" in one of the places. {page} becomes each page's number and {pages} the last number.
