How to sign a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Draw your signature, type your name in a handwriting style, or use a picture of your signature.
  3. Click Add, drag it into place and resize it. Add the date if needed. Then save and download.

Good to know

  • You can place several signatures and dates on any pages.
  • With a picture of your signature, the white background can be made transparent.
  • The signature is added as an image on the page, like a handwritten signature on a scan.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF (you need the password).

Electronic signature, not a certificate signature

This adds a visible electronic signature, which is accepted for many everyday documents. It is not a cryptographic "digital signature" based on a certificate. If a document requires a qualified or certificate-based digital signature, use a dedicated signing service.

Your PDF stays in your browser

The file is read and changed on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so contracts, statements and IDs stay private.

For many documents yes, but rules differ by country and document type. When in doubt, ask the person who needs the signed document.

Is my signature stored anywhere?

No. It exists only in your browser and in the PDF you download.
