How to convert Excel to CSV
- Choose an .xlsx, .xlsm or .ods file.
- Pick the sheet, the separator, and check the preview.
- Download the CSV, or all sheets as a ZIP.
What you get
- The values the spreadsheet app last calculated. Formulas themselves are not re-run.
- Dates as 2024-03-01 (with the time when there is one), numbers as plain numbers such as 1234.5, TRUE and FALSE for checkboxes and logical values.
- Comma, semicolon or tab separators, with "Excel-friendly UTF-8" so accents and other alphabets open correctly in Excel.
- Hidden sheets are listed and can be converted too.
Good to know
- Older .xls files and password-protected workbooks can't be read: open them in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice and save as .xlsx first.
- Currency signs, thousands separators and other display formatting are not added to numbers.
- Merged cells keep their value in the first cell only.
Your spreadsheet stays on your device
Everything happens in your browser. Your spreadsheet is never uploaded, and this site's security policy blocks the page from sending files anywhere.
Preguntas frecuentes
Which separator should I use?
Comma for most apps. In countries where Excel uses a comma for decimals (much of Europe), Excel expects semicolons.
Can I convert every sheet at once?
Yes. "All sheets" saves one file per sheet in a ZIP.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded?
No. It is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere.
