This isn't a ZIP file, so it can only be split into numbered parts.
1 MB is 1,048,576 bytes, as Windows and this site count. Email services usually accept 20 to 25 MB per message.
Your parts are ready
Your browser may ask once whether this site may download several files.

How to split a ZIP file
- Choose the ZIP.
- Pick the kind of parts and the largest size of each part.
- Download the parts and the "how to unpack" note.
Two kinds of parts
- Separate ZIPs (photos-part01-of05.zip, photos-part02-of05.zip…): each part is a complete ZIP that opens by itself on Windows, a Mac or a phone. Unpack every part into the same folder and everything is back, with its folders. Best for sending to other people.
- Numbered parts (photos.zip.001, photos.zip.002…): exact pieces of the ZIP, as 7-Zip makes them. Every part is needed, in order: join them on this site, open the .001 part with 7-Zip or WinRAR, or use one command. Best for very large files, and the only way to split a single huge file inside a ZIP.
- The numbers in the names give the order, with the same number of digits, so the parts also sort correctly in any folder.
Good to know
- Nothing is unpacked or compressed again: the files are copied exactly as they are in your ZIP, so splitting is quick even for gigabytes, and passwords on the files stay.
- Sizes count like Windows: 1 MB is 1,048,576 bytes. Every part is at most the size you choose, except with separate ZIPs when one file inside is bigger than that on its own; the page tells you before you split.
- The "how to unpack" note lists the parts and the steps, for you or whoever gets the parts.
- Other files (a video, a disk image) can be split into numbered parts too.
Your files stay on your device
Everything happens in your browser. Your ZIP is never uploaded, and this site's security policy blocks the page from sending files anywhere.
Häufige Fragen
How do I put the parts back together?
Separate ZIPs: open each one and unpack them all into the same folder, or use Join Split Files on this site to make one ZIP again. Numbered parts: choose all of them in Join Split Files, or open the .001 part with 7-Zip or WinRAR, or join them with "copy /b" on Windows or "cat" on a Mac. The "how to unpack" note has the exact commands.
Which kind should I choose?
Separate ZIPs when other people will open the parts, since every part opens without special software. Numbered parts when every part must stay under the size, for example for a 4 GB limit on a USB stick, or when the ZIP holds one very large file.
Can Windows open .001 files by itself?
No. Windows and macOS don't join numbered parts on their own. Use Join Split Files on this site, 7-Zip or WinRAR, or the command in the "how to unpack" note.
Is there a size limit?
No server-imposed one: the ZIP is cut in your browser, and the parts are made from pieces of your file without loading it all into memory, so ZIPs of many gigabytes work.
